We consider the classical uctuations of the gravitational constant generated by bubbles in the in ationary universe. For extended in ation, we demonstrate numerically how and how large uctuations are produced during bubbleexpansion. The amplitude of the uctuations depends on the Brans-Dicke parameter !: if ! is of the order of unity, the amplitude becomes of the order of unity within one Hubble expansion time; if ! is large (say, ! = 1000), the growth rate of the uctuations is small, but it keeps growing without freezing during in ation. Fluctuations of the gravitational constant induced by primordial bubbles.
We consider the classical fluctuations of the gravitational constant generated by bubbles in the inflationary universe. For extended inflation, we demonstrate numerically how and how large fluctuations are produced during bubbleexpansion. The amplitude of the fluctuations depends on the Brans-Dicke parameter ω: if ω is of the order of unity, the amplitude becomes of the order of unity within on...
متن کاملFermilab-Pub-96/035-A, astro-ph/9603034 The cosmological constant and advanced gravitational wave detectors
Interferometric gravitational wave detectors could measure the frequency sweep of a binary inspiral [characterized by its chirp mass] to high accuracy. The observed chirp mass is the intrinsic chirp mass of the binary source multiplied by (1 + z), where z is the redshift of the source. Assuming a nonzero cosmological constant, we compute the expected redshift distribution of observed events for...
متن کاملThe Early Universe
An introductory account is given of the modern understanding of the physics of the early Universe. Particular emphasis is placed on the paradigm of cosmological inflation, which postulates a period of accelerated expansion during the Universe’s earliest stages. Inflation provides a possible origin for structure in the Universe, such as microwave background anisotropies, galaxies and galaxy clus...
متن کاملGeneral relativistic effects in preheating
General relativistic effects in the form of metric perturbations are usually neglected in the preheating era that follows inflation. We argue that in realistic multi-field models these effects are in fact crucial, and the fully coupled system of metric and quantum field fluctuations needs to be considered. Metric perturbations are resonantly amplified, breaking the scale-invariance of the primo...
متن کاملThe Effect of Primordial Temperature Fluctuations on the Qcd Transition
We analyse a new mechanism for the cosmological QCD first-order phase transition: inhomogeneous nucleation. The primordial temperature fluctuations are larger than the tiny temperature interval, in which bubbles would form in the standard picture of homogeneous nucleation. Thus the bubbles nucleate at cold spots. We find the typical distance between bubble centers to be a few meters. This excee...
